SYLLABUS

The School uses both the WAEC Syllabus and NECO Syllabus. Students are prepared for the National Examination Council Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and NECO Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.

SCHOOL BUILDING

The school building has six academic blocks: The three storey Block is occupied by the JSS One JSS3, SS1, SS2 and SS3 students. The newly renovated block is occupied by the JSS2 students. Two blocks have been reconstructed and renovated recently. One of them houses the computer laboratory while the other one houses the Biology laboratory and the Chemistry laboratory. The Physics and Basic Science block is currently under renovation and upgrade. The school library occupies a block while the Agric. Laboratory, Home Economics/Food & Nutrition Laboratory and the Visual arts studio shares a block. The Music studio is in the administrative block while the School Sick Bay has it’s own Block.

The School makes use of the Federal Ministry of Education recommended list of books in addition to the subject teachers’ choice

Information Technology has become more important today, this is why we emphasizes ICT education. This is evident in our fully equipped computer laboratory and our staff of ICT professionals. Recently we have embarked on training of all our staff (teaching and Non- teaching) to ensure that they all have basic ICT skills.

NINLAN Demonstration Secondary School has fully equipped laboratories and workshops for practical studies for the students in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Basic Science, Home Economics, Foods and Nutrition, Information Communication Technology, Basic Technology, Data Process, Dyeing and Bleaching, Music and Visual Arts.

The school has a well-equipped library for both Junior and Senior Secondary schools. Currently we are working to renovate, upgrade and re-stocked the library with digital materials, encyclopaedias, thesaurus, newspapers, periodicals and textbooks on various subjects.

There are four main departments in the School. The departments are:

  • Science Department – Basic Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Basic technology, Technical drawing, Mathematics, Physical Education, Information Communication Technology (ICT)/Computer Studies, Further Mathematics
  • Arts Department – English Language, French, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Literature in English,
  • Social Science Department – National Values Education, Geography, Economics, Government, Civic Education, Marketing, and Christian Religious Studies,
  • Pre-Vocational Department – Agricultural Science, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, Visual Art, Music.
